A Healthy and Safe Community

Niagara Falls is home to an established and growing network of health care service providers. Urgent care hospital services are provided at the Niagara Health System’s Greater Niagara General Hospital Site. Prompt care and walk-in clinics are located throughout the city to serve residents and visitors. Niagara Falls continues to attract new primary care physicians and health care related investments through targeted recruitment initiatives.

Nature lovers can enjoy an extensive network of recreational hiking, walking and cycling trails and parks located throughout the city. From the famous Niagara Parkway to the many neighbourhood parks that do the city landscape, it’s never difficult to connect with nature when you live in Niagara Falls.

Community safety services are provided by the City of Niagara Falls Fire Department.

Policing services are delivered by the Niagara Regional Police, Ontario Provincial Police, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and Canada Border Services, all of which have detachments or regional headquarters located in Niagara Falls.

Convenient, Accessible and Sustainable Transportation

Public transit within Niagara Falls is provided by Niagara Falls Transit which runs throughout the city. Inter-city bus travel is available from several private carriers operating from the Niagara Falls Bus Terminal and Government of Ontario (GO)Transit which operates daily commuter bus service to Toronto. The City of Niagara Fall is actively involved in efforts to establish an inter-municipal transit service between communities in the Regional Municipality of Niagara.

Rail service is provided by Via Rail and GO Transit’s seasonal tourism train service operates between Niagara Falls and Toronto’s Union Station. Several licensed taxi companies also serve residents and visitors to Niagara Falls.

Exciting new transportation developments are also on the horizon as the much-anticipated Niagara Falls People Mover System nears the launch of its rubber-tire public transportation service which will link major tourism districts throughout the municipality.

Opportunities For Youth

The City of Niagara Falls invests in opportunities for its young people. In recent years, the City has partnered on the construction of the new multi-use MacBain Community Centre (YMCA & library branch); invested in the construction of a new $12-million home for the Boys and Girls Club of Niagara Falls; invested in a new $32-million state-of-the-art Gale Centre four pad arena complex and continues to develop and support special youth-focused community events throughout the city.

Live theatre, museums, designated historical sites and a growing arts scene are all reasons to visit and live in Niagara Falls. You’ll never have to travel far to take in a show or learn about our city’s rich heritage.
